Argentina Backcountry Snowboarding & Skiing HeadingInquireBarArg

2013 Steamboat Powdercats Signature Session

Since 1983, Steamboat Powdercats has opened the doors to the Colorado backcountry for thousands of skiers and riders. Now returning to Argentina for their second season, Powdercats’ Eric Deering and Kent Vertrees will be welcoming a group of clients on a backcountry adventure in the Andes of Northern Patagonia in search of powder in August.

Join us from August 24 to September 7, 2013 – Inquire Now

Based in the Patagonian outdoors mecca of San Carlos de Bariloche at a private lodge just 200 yards from the gondola of South America’s largest single mountain resort Cerro Catedral Alta Patagonia, you’ll have direct access to some of the best skiing and riding in the Andes. An easily accessible sidecountry showcases deep powder and expansive high-alpine bowls giving way to widely-spaced trees dripping with fluorescent green moss. As massive condors circle overhead, it immediately becomes clear that Patagonia is a place unlike any other.

kylewarren“Incredible experience!  I was looking for a way to spread my passion for snowboarding to a year-round activity, as well as stretch my sidecountry/backcountry snowboard skills and vision. I found all this, along with a new family of friends in the SGT guides, coaches and clients; and of course the Powdercats crew.  I was amazed to see so much skill and professionalism teamed with an environment of culture, learning, support, and ‘just-plain-powder-killin-passion!’  Whether your an up-and-coming college kid or a longtime skier/boarder looking to push yourself, you’re missing out if you don’t try a session with SGT Argentina. See you in August, 2013!”[/engine_panel]

Steamboat Powdercats + SASS Global Travel

In the Spring of 2012, Steamboat Powdercats’ Eric and Kent met with SGT staff to develop a custom backcountry program during the summer that would capture the same family environment and camaraderie that has made Steamboat Powdercats famous. The result was our first trip with SPC’s Eric Deering in August, 2012, where four intrepid Powdercats clients joined Eric to explore the Patagonia backcountry for a week. This year, based on the suggestions of SPC clients, we’re now offering two full weeks (you can still come for just one, don’t worry) and made changes to build a program that’s even better for Powdercats clients.

Powdercats Trip Leaders

Eric Deering and Kent Vertrees act as your trip leaders in cooperation with SGT guiding staff, ensuring that the needs of the Powdercats’ group are being met on and off the mountain.

Premium Apartment Lodging

Powdercats clients are lodged in the Base41 Apartments, built in 2009 and situated next door to our own SGT  Lodge, allowing Powdercats clients the best of both worlds. Literally steps away from the community feel and family dinners of the Lodge,  the Base41 Apartments offer fully-equipped kitchens, living rooms with flat screen TVs and two bedrooms.

Please Note: Our program is priced per person, based on double occupancy. In other words, the per person price assumes that you’re sharing a bedroom (Two Twins or a King). We welcome single travelers at our advertised price and can pair you with a roommate, but if you’re coming solo and prefer your own private bedroom, an additional charge applies.

SGT day 2 040_3“Though I had only experienced one day of back country skiing with Steamboat Powdercats, I didn’t hesitate when they invited me to Patagonia last summer! The coaching, camaraderie and terrain exceeded my expectations.  My skiing improved dramatically as well as my overall knowledge of skiing. SGT will sell you a seat for this adventure, but you’ll only need the edge!”[/engine_panel]
Full Service Program

Even though Powdercats clients are located a few steps away, they’re still a part of the SGT Family. You’ll receive all the services and inclusions provided to other SGT clients, including access to our indoor/outdoor pool, ping-pong table and inviting lobby space for apres-ski with other clients. In addition, as part of the SGT family you’ll enjoy daily hot breakfast, homemade pastries and hot drinks in the afternoon for Tea Time, and three-course Family Dinners. Of course, your apartment includes a fully-equipped kitchen, so feel free to prepare you own meals, too!
