Meet Amanda DiGiovanna:

Amanda DiGiovanna’s classes are grown out of the idea that Yoga will change your life. Yoga is a personal Revolution leading to a healthier body and a happier state of mind. Yoga means union, so in your practice we create unison between the mind, body and every side of yourself. Amanda’s classes are creative and inspiring, nourishing not only through ancient yogic practices but incorporating Art, Music, Literature, Community and anything else that stokes one’s inner fire and re-ignites the spark of feeling at home and blissed out in YOUR mind, YOUR body and YOUR life. Amanda is renown throughout Long Island as the “teacher’s teacher” offering her knowledge, grace and philosophy wherever she can. She has been sponsored by various companies throughout her teaching career including: Zico Water, Playtex Sport, Acis, and is currently a Lululemon Athletica Ambassador. She now owns two Revolution Yoga Studios, One in Rockville Centre, NY and another in Island Park, NY.

Amanda’s Journey to Yoga:

Amanda began her personal Yoga practice at the age of 12 after her mother heralded its ability to relieve her scoliosis and sciatica symptoms. The practice stayed with her ever since helping through life’s trials and tribulations.

While studying to receive her Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University at Albany she worked three years as an Emergency Medical Technician for New York State and Medical Assistant at a Cardiovascular Hospital. She also studied Natural Therapies at Lorenzo De Medici Univeristy in Florence, Italy. “The most important thing all of my medical study and experience taught me about good health is prevention. Yoga is a process tediously tweaked over thousands of years and could not be a more wholesome approach to prevention; Disease prevention and what I like to call “freak-out prevention”. Yoga asana (physical practice) tones the nervous system so you are not so apt to “freak-out” over little things. It teaches the body to detoxify, strengthen, align, relax and most importantly heal itself. Yoga philosophy teaches the mind the tools it needs to face anything and emerge contented and happy. Yoga is a specific science, laid out for the student to experiment with step by step, unlocking an incredible power source latent in the human being. I try to incorporate all of these elements into my classes so when you step onto your yoga mat you will be encouraged to have your own personal experience, find what works for you, and apply it to your life.”

After college graduation the theme of Amanda’s life work remained the same. She wanted to help people, but its agents shifted slightly. She wanted to help people prevent health problems, to teach people to find their peace, and how heal their bodies from the inside out. In 2007 she graduated Sonic Yoga’s Vinyasa Teacher Certification and began the website www.alotofbeautiful.com. In 2010 she took the jump and opened Revolution Yoga a nourishing space with superb instructors, supportive students, lots of smiles, yummy yoga flows and loads of candles.
