What is Cerro Catedral?

Catedral is the largest resort in South America – about the size of Mammoth Mountain, California. The coastal snowpack sets up very quickly and hangs onto all kinds of faces and rock outcroppings, making for perfect cliff take-offs and soft landings. With a 3,500 foot vertical rise, the snow gets deeper and lighter as you get higher on the mountain. The 33 lifts include a high-speed gondola, six-pack and quad, considered a very modern lift system for South America. Other lifts are an assortment of doubles, triples and surface lifts. However, with grooming mostly limited to a bunch of cat tracks circling the mountain, the off-piste experience includes lots and lots of untracked woods, chutes, and bowls that are barely skied outside of our groups.  The skiing we do is raw and is closer to lift-accessed backcountry than the traditional North American resort experience.  We ride every day in the backcountry using proper backcountry travel protocols & equipment.

Mountain Statistics:

  • 1,500 acres in-bounds
  • 3,000+ acres
  • 33 Lifts – including a High Speed 6-Pack, Gondola and Quad.
  • 3 peaks
  • 3,800 foot vertical drop
  • Summit tops out at 7,600 feet

Things to Know:

*You will arrive and clear customs in Buenos Aires at EZE, Ministro Pistarini-Ezeiza Int’l Airport. This airport is located outside the city of Buenos Aires.

*If you arrive on the dates above, an SGT representative will be available to meet you and facilitate transfers if necessary. Ground transfers in Buenos Aires may be arranged on alternate dates with advance notice.

*Some domestic flights to Bariloche depart directly from EZE, an easy connection! Others depart from AEP, a small airport near the city center, a 45-minute drive (or two hours in traffic) between the two airports. We highly advise that you not change airports unless you’re staying the night in Buenos Aires. This is a tough connection on the same day.

*Domestic flights to Bariloche are often more expensive when purchased or arranged separately from the international ticket.
