Argentina Backcountry Snowboarding & Skiing Bariloche Cerro CatedralEach year, we welcome over a hundred clients to our private lodge at Cerro Catedral Alta Patagonia. In 2012, they ranged in age from 15-56, and came from diverse backgrounds representing nine different countries. Living alongside a staff of professional skiers, snowboarders and backcountry guides, our clients experience deep powder, professional coaching, mind-blowing terrain and a rich Latin culture while progressing as skiers or riders. Clients of all ages work as a group and not only explore the backcountry, but learn the skills to safely bridge the gap from resort riding to the sidecountry, backcountry, and beyond.

Dr. Wes Mills - Kennebunk, Maine, USA
mills“The adventure of going to South America to slay powder in August on my own was unreal. I met people from all over who were doing the same thing and becoming a cohesive team of friends within just hours of meeting. The coaches, guides, pros and younger clients were accessible, inclusive and sharing in knowledge and experience without any ego, attitude or arrogance. They seemed truly stoked to be sharing this experience with us and each other… and don’t get me started on the steak and Malbec! The SGT team was attentive, proactive and handled flight cancellations caused by the Chilean volcano in a “Ritz-Carlton meets UPS meets FEMA” sort of way. The people and personalities are as invigorating as the place and the skiing… and both the place and the skiing are truly world class.”

Dr. Mills came to Argentina in 2011, and returned with his son, Wes Mills Jr. (pictured) in 2012.

Life at SGT Argentina

Life in our Argentina lodge resembles a backcountry summer camp — clients eat together, ride together and work as a team to travel safely through the backcountry. Many pursue backcountry education; avalanche certifications are offered in-house by certified AIARE and CAA course leaders, along with Spanish, Filmmaking, CPR and Wilderness First Aid. Our private lodge, just minutes away from the gondola, features comfortable shared rooms with an indoor/outdoor pool, ping-pong table and private dining room. We also offer private apartments and custom lodging.

antoniobifulco“Argentina was a blast! Getting there was a breeze and the open community feel of the lodge was awesome. Everyone I met on the trip was great, so the fun didn’t stop once you got off the mountain. I met up with a few of the guys from the trip not long after I got back stateside. An overall great experience put on by SGT, I recommended it to more than a few friends!”
