Over the years we have had a ton of USASA athletes make their way to SASS Argentina to take advantage of full-on winter conditions and push their skiing or riding in a different direction. SASS Argentina is a perfect summer training platform that not only introduces you to a new culture but also helps to build upon your foundation and gives you the experience necessary to push deeper into big mountain terrain. We chose a few past USASA athletes who have spent some summers with us to give you an idea of what we are talking about.

CHASE JOSEY – SASS Argentina 2011 – 2014

Chase Josey is at the top of his game these days as a member of the US Snowboarding team and competing in the Olympics in Men’s Superpipe. He spent four summers with us at SASS Argentina taking a break from the pipe by building jumps, hitting natural features and riding big mountain lines. We are so stoked to see his success and are proud to call him part of the SASS Family.

Olympic Gold Medalist Kaitlyn Farrington made her first trip to SASS Argentina just after her Women’s Halfpipe win in Sochi. Since her retirement from competitive riding, her snowboarding has taken a turn towards bigger mountains and backcountry missions. In 2017 Kaitlyn joined us for her fourth season, but this time as a coach bringing her unique perspective on the transition from halfpipe to the backcountry. Check back in for updates on this year’s Kaitlyn Farrington Super Session.

ASPEN SPORA – SASS Argentina 2016

Aspen made his first trip to SASS Argentina last season after his win of Teton Gravity Research’s Grom Comp. He is no stranger to the park, but SASS Argentina was an unreal opportunity for him to switch gears and shred some big mountain lines. He didn’t shy away from giving a demonstration on a backcountry jump we built to teach others the joy of the backflip either. This kid is only going to continue to get better.

CAM FITZPATRICK – SASS Argentina 2010 – 2013

We met Cam at USASA Nationals in 2010. He was fired up about the idea of heading to Argentina and none of us knew that he would end up coming down four summers in a row. Cam left the competition scene behind, but that doesn’t mean his snowboard career is over. Far from it. Cam took his experience growing up in Jackson coupled with his years building jumps with guide and coach Andrew Burns at SASS Argentina over to the boys at BrainFarm working with Travis Rice on his newest film, The Fourth Phase.
