After a week of powder slashes there is a beckoning to a gentler way of life, a simple need to descend from a controlled airspace into the consistent curve of a human built landscape. A litte R & R in the park is the medicine for the chargers of SGT.

OUTSTANDING HUMAN at SGT
With love and appreciation to all of the past women and men that traveled down to Argentina in the name of SGT and adventurous shredding and found the path through the woods to incredible amount of joy, the 2012 SGT staff is the best yet. This week coach Tony Pavlantos put on his eco-friendly big-boy pants on and gave his immense heart and time to every client that crossed his periphery. For that we say THANK YOU TONY!

“This was the best week of my life! I loved snowboarding and now because of you (SGT) I love it even more and I got to experience the sickest runs of my life! I am totally coming next year and not for less that 2 weeks! I don’t care if its with my own money! Session 1 has been on fire with early season snow, a super fun park, great food and the best clients and staff in the world. The SGT coaching staff have braved the 35 degree days and easy access to multiple cafe con leches to lead our clients and guest around the resort and into the backcountry of the Andes. Check out a couple of highlights so far and look for videos dropping soon.
2012 SGT Argentina is only days away from dropping cliffs and crushing powder in Bariloche. The staff and coaches are starting to head down south and the clients arrive on the 25th of July. Here is a glance at what is to come for 2012 with a quick look back at serious slashing, skiing and snowboarding, featuring new bookends from our friends at Levitation Project.

Oscar Jacob has spent a good deal of time dealing with the frantic whims on the SGT senior staff. As soon as he falls off of his motorcycle he recently got at go2scooter webstie, after the hour long ride in to head quarters he is subject to a plethora of projects and ideas from the minds of four mad men. Oscar does get to go on lunch time bike rides/races with the boss.
Remember that before you ride a motorcycle you need to get your license, get in touch with motorcycle licence Melbourne to get yours and ride freely.

SGT family member Grant Bowen send us over a little edit on splitboard making. This edit is done so well, watch the attention to detail that Grant puts into his Niche Snowboard. Ben Girardi is the Head Photographer for SGT Argentina. Girardi has put in his time with the SGT family down in Bariloche. No one can really say when Ben started coming down to camp, but it has been at least 7-years. Ben has shot photos for more ski and snowboard teams then you can backside 7 over. Ben has published photos in many industry publication.
Ben G. is soft spoken, honest and a very smart human being. But, do not think because he is quiet that his photos are. Ben sets the tone for the artistic vision of SGT’s photos in the Andes. His larger then life images of riding, lifestyle, and the beautiful backdrop of Patagonia give SGT an visual identity. When it comes to shredding Ben knows his way off of a cliff and up a kicker. The only real question left for our media team is: who has a better cab 7 with a 50-pound camera bag on, Ben G. or Jon Conway (head video artist).

The Garrett Russel Experience is something that is very difficult to capture with words. Garrett Russell is much like the Matrix, no one can be told what he is. Mr Russell is a globe trotting powder hound that can handle every condition that exists on this planet. G-Funk is some kind of non-american, non-earthly, non-human mustachioed demon with fun set in his cross-hairs. With that in mind we had to give “G” his own signature session this summer (check the website, more information coming soon). I really do not know what to tell you about the session other then I promose you will never forget it.

Nicki Slechta enters her fourth year with SGT and her tenth year as best hair in snowboarding. Nicki’s attitude toward life is to live it all day every day. She is able to take the challenges of life and turn them into positives. She is never down on herself or others and is truly a joy to be around. Slechta’s energy and unapologetic quest for fun inspires everybody she is around.
By the way Nicki is ridiculous on a snowboard, not for a girl, for anybody. Her consistently high finishes on the Dew Tour in slope style combined with her numerous wins all over the world should help you understand.

Sneaky Pete Connolly is an SGT Argentina Ski Guide as well as the Visual Communications Director for SASS Global Travel and spends his winters guiding at Silverton Mountain in Colorado. He began at SGT in 2010 and has had his hand in every aspect of the company at one point or another. This is the story of how he snuck his way into the best job in the world…
