USASA Summer Training at SASS Argentina
SASS Argentina is an unreal opportunity for USASA athletes to push their skiing or riding in an alternative direction during the summer months. We offer competitive athletes the ability to take their skills into big mountain terrain in full-on winter conditions and build upon their foundation with avalanche awareness education, splitboarding and skinning clinics, line selection practice, backcountry jump building sessions, and much more. Skiing and snowboarding has evolved immensely and we offer a unique platform for learning and progression in a ridiculously fun environment with some of the world’s top pros, guides and coaches.
Avalanche Education in Argentina
Integrated experiential backcountry education is at the core of the SASS Argentina experience. We want to give our clients the platform to take their skiing or riding to the next level and leave with a greater understanding of what it takes to be successful in the backcountry. Avalanche conditions in Argentina are unique. Our guides have extensive experience in this zone and enjoy passing along the knowledge gained over the years. In addition to our included avalanche awareness seminar and required on-mountain avalanche safety scenario practice, we offer AAA Level I courses.
Avalanche Courses in Argentina
We offer AAA Recreational Level I Avalanche Training courses at SASS Argentina led by AAA professional member and AIARE Course Leader, Travis Feist. SASS Global Travel is an American Avalanche Association course provider. These courses are in addition to our included avalanche seminar and on-mountain scenario training. Our course instructors consider SASS Argentina to be the best place to take a course due to the terrain, the supportive environment and the focus on experiential education rather than time in the classroom.

Learn to Tour at SASS Argentina
If you’re considering coming to SASS Argentina this summer or (even better) if you’re already registered, you already know how to ride a chairlift up and make your way downhill on your skis/board. But what about if there are no chairlifts around? Or what if the best turns sit above and beyond where the chairlift will drop you off (note that this is typically the case). Sometimes bootpacking will get the job done, but more often than not, the most efficient way to get uphill without a chairlift is to tour.

Argentina Reciprocity Fee WAIVED
Since the early days of SASS’s South American expeditions, Argentina has charged what they call a “Reciprocity Fee” for US, Canadian, and Australian citizens to enter the country in order to receive their 90-day travel visa. After the fee was paid once, it was good for any return trips to Argentina for 10 years, but the $160 USD hit was still never fun.

We are so stoked to have SASS Family Member and Olympic Gold Medalist Kaitlyn Farrington back for her third season at SASS Argentina. This time we are blowing it up creating two SUPER SESSIONS with Kaitlyn at the helm as a guest coach bringing her unique brand of stoke and enthusiasm to the experience.
Kaitlyn has been down to SASS Argentina for the past two seasons, utilizing our all-star guide staff to help transition her snowboarding into the backcountry and onto bigger mountains. “I was known as a halfpipe rider. Breaking out of that niche into the backcountry is definitely a transition. It was like I started all over,” says Farrington. These SUPER SESSIONS will be an opportunity for her to share the lessons she learned. Designed as a platform to take participants’ skills to the next level, Kaitlyn’s SUPER SESSIONS include integrated backcountry education, guided shredding and guest coaching from one of the raddest ladies on the mountain.
